Historical Family Snaps

Album 1

I found these pictures in an album that I probably inherited from my mother. They seem to date from just after Ann's birth in 1959, to my graduation in 1973. They weren't in any sort of order, I've tried to group them chronologically but I have little memory of these scenes.

The locations appear to be:

• Our house in Sheffield, 153 Sharrow Vale Road, from 1958 to 1975.
• Grandma's house, 99 Middle Lane South, Rotherham.
• Aunty Maureen's house. This was in Lower Wiggington, near Tring, Hertfordshire. Google maps shows this as "Wiggington Btm" (Bottom ?). Other pictures are from Aldbury, a village near Tring. The village stocks and whipping post appear in one photo. The current map shows a massive junction with the A41 which I don't remember being there at the time.

	Note on the back says "7 1/2 Months. I thought this was Ann, but she tells me it is me. If it is then it will be around Christmas 1957. That fits with the decorations being up. Seven and a half months after Ann's birthday would be in February.
	Looks like Dad with Ann, I'm struggling to identify the location, I was probably only 3 at the time.

	Ann and Neil somewhere, probably Aldbury. Internet search suggests these are "The Stocks and Whipping Post" (Station Road, Tring).

	I'm guessing this is also the garden at Aunty Maureen's, probably contemporary with the one of me in 1971. Probably Ann and one of my cousins.
	Guessing again, looks like another one from Maureen's garden.
	Maybe Neil at Aunty Maureen's.
	Mum and Dad having a picnic in the middle of nowhere. Somewhere between Swindon and Wantage in Oxfordshire
	Me in the garden at Sharrow Vale Road. That looks like the De La Salle sixth form uniform, so this may have been in 1973.

	Dad
	Me on the bridge over Porter Brook at the end of Frog Walk, Sheffield.
	Looks like Grandma's in Rotherham.
	Labelled 1974. Ann thinks this relates to one of Dad's meeting with the union members from OTV in Bochum, Germany. Dad was in Sheffield Nalgo. ÖTV: Gewerkschaft Öffentliche Dienste, Transport und Verkehr was a trade union representing transport and public service workers in West Germany.
